PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS DURING THE PANDEMIC
At the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of businesses that were considered as nonessential had to be temporarily shut down, with some of the staff required to work from home. As a result of the economic impact, thus temporary closure had on some businesses, they failed to get back on their feet. Private Investigators were not spared too. They were affected by the closure of specific businesses that always required their services. Many Private Investigators that worked from their offices now had to work from home. In some cases being away from the office and their clients that they visited on a regular basis limited the efficiency and effectiveness of their investigations such as required subject interviews , or surveillances in public places such as malls restaurants and office buildings.
Regardless of this, with the gradual opening of specific businesses and other important outlets, Private Investigators are slowly back to carrying out physical investigations while being cautious of the Covid-19 rules. Also, multinational companies that do not necessarily have physical establishments worldwide have found tangible reasons to need private investigators. Such large businesses and owners of well-known establishments have been heavily affected by the increased number of cyber-attacks and cybercrimes occurring on the internet. Other factors that have been more concern for these businesses are trademark infringement, counterfeit products, breach of data and vital information, etc. — enter Private Investigators. These investigative professionals are needed more than ever before to help combat these internet problems by monitoring trademark or brand breaches, assist law enforcement agencies in investigating crimes and theft, and constant surveillance to guarantee that business properties are not stolen or destroyed.
HOW GLOBAL SHUTDOWN IMPACTED BUSINESSES
During the lockdown in many countries — especially in America — due to the Covid-19 pandemic, owners of small and large businesses found it difficult to prevent counterfeit products and fake materials from entering into the market, even though some rules and regulations prohibited such products. Counterfeit goods rose significantly during the pandemic, especially in online shopping stores, resulting in many non-essential workers being suspended or asked to work from home. Brands began to take certain measures to mitigate these problems, and one of those measures was to hire private investigators.
PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS NEEDED DURING THE PANDEMIC
First, Trademark experts and multinational companies must be ready to improve upon and take control of the activities that take place on their internet platforms. Internet-based services are slowly substituting physical services rendered by humans. Therefore, it has become imperative that the activities on their online platforms must be regulated. There are a lot of ways Private Investigators can be used to solve these issues.
That being said, Private Investigators can also be hired by companies whose businesses had shut down during the height of the pandemic to ensure that everything and everyone is functioning properly while following the Covid-19 guidelines set up by such a company.
For example, Private Investigators can be tasked to monitor some of the workers to know if they are working — either from home or at the office. They can simply set up surveillance cameras and implement other investigative methods to gather information.
Of course, this will help companies trying to recover from the heavy blow Covid-19 had dealt them. Ensuring that workers are meeting up with the tasks means progress for the establishment.
